All light has frequency which is basically how stretched or condensed a photon wave wiggles throughout space. I won't bore you with all the technical stuff, but essentially each color vibrates or wiggles at a different rate and when the photon enters your eye, your brain interprets each frequency as a different color.
My husband teaches physics and astronomy, two of my many special interests. I get to ask him all the things I want to know about how the universe works, and why... The most frustrating part for me is science doesn't know everything yet! But I can guarantee there are some really smart scientists, probably several of them on the autism spectrum, working these questions out. I hope someday before I die I can get to know more about what is happening in our universe. It is my hope that when I die, God will take me on a tour and reveal all the mysteries of the universe.
What I DO know and understand is color. My favorite class in college was color theory. I was trained to understand the science behind how color is created through photons of light, and how color interacts side by side with each other, and how we interact with it. Sometimes with just the right color combination, you can create magic.
This is one of those pieces for me. Even though the frequency of light doesn't change very much from color to color, the effects can have major impact on us and our mood. That's why you would paint a bedroom green or blue vs. red or orange if you ever want to have restful sleep.
